Court Attorney for Several Acting Monroe County Court Judges
For the last ten years, Rich has served as the Court Attorney for many Acting Monroe County Court judges, including Hon. Melissa Barrett, Hon. Charles F. Crimi, Jr., and Hon. Melchor Castro. While working side-by-side with Judge Barrett in her prior role as Supervising Judge for all town and village court justices in our district, they led the way in ensuring justice was provided for all who appeared by providing legal training and support to our town and village court justices on the ever changing legal issues. In addition, they continue to work to improve access to justice in numerous ways including the Rochester Housing Court Eviction Diversion Resource Center, 7th Judicial District Warrant Resolution Center, and by bolstering our problem solving treatment courts, where compassion and accountability intersect. As the legal advisor and grant writer for the Surviving and Finding Empowerment Court, which exclusively accepts cases where each defendant is a victim of sexual exploitation, Rich has seen firsthand how problem solving courts can reduce recidivism, save lives, and make our community stronger.
Trial Lawyer
As a Public Defender, Rich represented thousands of people in cases ranging from low-level offenses to homicide cases in courts across our county. Rich has tried 35 cases in his legal career, winning 29 for his clients. He also referred clients to our problem solving courts to get help with underlying issues in order to lead healthy lives and break the cycle of recidivism
